NAGELHUS SCHIA PRODUCTIONS
 –  Performing IN C together with Trondheim Sinfonietta
 

Following a successful tour to the city of Bodø in Northern Norway on 5 Sept 2024, IN C will be performed at the Trondheim Chamber Music Festival on 26 and 27 Sept 2024.

IN C is based on the musical composition by Terry Riley from 1964. Riley’s masterpiece is an open composition, generally considered to be the first piece of minimalist music. Sasha Waltz has translated this concept into dance, creating 53 movement phrases to be used in a structured improvisation with clear rules. Read more here.

OR/ELLER
– Opens DOLLY at MDT in Stockholm in November!
 

All people have one thing in common; we have all been there, on the inside of someone's body! Even though we all have different experiences of becoming, of coming into being, or of giving life to new people, we are still bound together in this; Life's first chamber play. 
 
In DOLLY, OR/ELLER has let three guiding stars cross-fertilize the thematic of the work - Dolly the sheep - the first clone, Dolly Parton the artist - the woman who has continued her creation outside of the womb, and the doll, who comes alive through play and imagination.  DOLLY is a dancing laboratory, gathering inspiration from anatomical theater, chamber plays, and puppet theater. The body and its movements are put on display when Anja Arnquist, Sam Huczkowski, and Madeleine Lindh let dance's ability to breathe life speak for the idea of the poetics of cell division, the blurred boundaries of subjectivity and a constructed becoming in our contemporary world. Northern Europe's premier street dance festival Malmö Dance Week takes place from 28 Oct-3 Nov 2024 in different venues in Malmö, Sweden. bringing together guests, dancers, and audiences from all over the world. –  New Premiere in October 
 

HERE- US- NOW performs from 17- 20 Oct 2024 at Moderna Dansteatern (MDT) in Stockholm (SE). HERE- US- NOW is a unique opportunity to take part in Swedish dance history that looks both backward but also forwards!

HERE- US - NOW consists of excerpts from older works from the mid-90s until now, directly translated but also new interpretations. Several of the creations were premiered at Moderna Dansteatern. Helena Franzén will dance one of her solos, KANTRA from 1996. In the performance we will meet the original dancers, Katarina Eriksson, Annika Hyvärinen, Åsa Lundvik Gustafson, and Elizaveta Penkova, all of them have a long collaboration with Helena Franzén. NORRDANS
 – Presenting two new world premieres
 

GLIMPSE creates make-believe rain of moments, tiny fleeting seconds that softly fall around us. We find ourselves in the eye of the weather, amidst monumental and everyday landscapes where the dance twists and turns while we yearn to catch a glimpse of light. Choreographer Nicole Neidert's artistic interests revolve around relationality, artificiality, materiality, humanity, and dance. The school performance GLIMPSE will have its world premiere on 20 Sept 2024 in Härnösand (SE), as a co-production between Norrdans and Estrad Norr. In the music genre of “Shoegaze”, the musicians always look focused down at the floor, at their feet. What are they looking at? In the dance performance SHOEGAZE choreographer Kristin Helgebostad creates an exploratory journey of our existence and compares them to gigantic giants who look down on complex hyper-landscapes of moss, ants, wasps, and insects. SHOEGAZE will have its world premiere on 27 Sept 2024 at Härnösands Theater (SE), followed by a tour in Stockholm and northern Sweden.More info here.

Bambam Frost opens the work WHEN I JUMP THE GROUND SHAKES for children aged 5-8 years at and in co-production with Dansens Hus in Stockholm (SE) on 16 Oct 2024. More info here. Inspired by science fiction, three dancers explore how the ability to empathize and care can be trained and developed into what we call superpowers.

”I am practicing to become a superhero. I have realized that there is something inside of me, in my body, that can transform me. I can't fly, I can't run very fast or climb walls yet. But when that special thing – that which exists inside me – is activated, it's like I feel everything all the time. When I dance, waves appear in the water and when I jump, the ground shakes.”

WITHIN PRACTICE 2024

30 Sept -5 Oct 2024 Within Practice invites you to explore a variety of formats, all centered around artistic practices and collaboration within the dance and choreography field. Within Practice aims to showcase and create platforms for sharing and knowledge exchange in the continuously expanding realm of contemporary dance.
 
Within Practice 2024 is presented in close partnership with MDT, Dansens Hus, SKH/Dance, Weld, and DC Stockholm (SE). This year, the lineup of artists includes Cullberg, Jeanine Durning, Mette Edvardsen, Shirley Harthey Ubilla, Stina Nyberg, and Andrew Tay, who will conduct workshops and practice presentations. The festival also presents morning classes, lectures, and an open space format for practice-sharing. ALOUN MARCHAL
– Recreating ” _p/\rc___"  for the Cultural Olympics
 

In partnership with the Paris 2024 Organizing Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games. the performance "_p/\rc___" initially presented at Théâtre du Châtelet (Paris-France) in 2022, has been selected for the Cultural Olympics initiated by the French Cultural Ministry. It will be recreated for this occasion.

Aloun Marchal is the co-choreographer of the performance "_p/\rc___" with Marine Relinger (dramaturge) and Eric Minh Cuong Castaing (Artistic Direction – Shonen Cie – France).

With _p/\rc___, Shonen Cie turns the extensive stage of the venue into a large park with renewed standards, from which specific dances are born, associating children with physical motor disorders and dancers. Around them, with them, a swarm of telepresence robots, piloted by other children or adults with physical disabilities. Bodies meet. The dancers become both prostheses for the so-called impeded bodies and also slides, living merry-go-rounds. The robots push, pull, and draw with the children, carrying the stories and songs of the pilot-performers.  More info here.

I SJÄLVA VERKET is a performance that moves in the borderland between monologue and dance solo. Educational and with a large dose of humor, Säfsten balances ingenious dance with personal storytelling. Inspired by TED talks, Säfsten guides us through the intricate science and vocabulary of contemporary dance. Self-biographical and arbitrarily omniscient, he takes us on a charming performance that entices insights and laughter. 

Dansnät Sverige/Dancenet Sweden has previously toured Björn Säfsten with productions such as LANGUAGE FOOLS (2016), DISPLAY (2013), COMPACT CONVERSATIONS (2011), and CUATRO ESTACIONES (2008).

VIRPI PAHKINEN
 – Pitching at HKPAX
 

Virpi Pahkinen will be at the Hong Kong Performing Arts Expo to pitch MONOLIT POLYGON as a collaboration project for Asian dance companies. It was created by Virpi Pahkinen for four dancers and the examination class at the Ballet Academy in Stockholm (SE). Get in touch if you want to attend the pitch session at the Hong Kong Jockey Club Auditorium or book a meeting for 15-18 Oct 2024. MONOLIT POLYGON is a versatile and surprising work with visual puzzles, black fountains, crystallographic mirrors, and weird insects. The choreographer plays with the laws of perspective and turns what is known upside down, back and forth. There is tension between order and chaos, freedom and captivity. Thrilling solos rise from the breath waves of the ballet corps. And electronic soundscapes with monolithic density offer a contrast to Chopin's brilliant etudes.

Short film Meteor continues its round on the international film festival circuit with screenings on 19 Sept 2024 at Moving North in Pannuhalli at Tanssin talo in Helsinki (FI) and 20 Sept 2024 at Love & Anarchy, Helsinki International Film Festival (FI).

GUNILLA HEILBORN
– Visiting Norway with DANTE
 

Gunilla Heilborn's latest work DANTE will be presented at Sandnes Kulturhus in Norway on 19 Sept 2024, as part of the RAS program (Regional Arena for Contemporary Dance). DANTE premiered in Dansens Hus in Stockholm in February 2024 and is now available for touring. 

In DANTE we meet three lost souls in an indecisive comedy about constant wanderings and unreliable guides. Like all comedies, DANTE starts very badly but ends well. Past and present meet in a highly speculative reading of Dante's eternal questions in a work for three lost souls. Wandering in a constant fog of uncertainty, no answers are found, but lots of questions that alternate between classic Heilborn humor and seriousness. REGIONTEATER VÄST
– SCH! - a dance performance that is anything but silent
 

In a world filled with constant noise from impressions and information from many different directions, it can be difficult to know which voice to listen to and which movement is important. So, join in this almost entirely improvised flow of dance, movement, music, and voice – and find what touches and inspires you. Choreography by Ioannis Mandafounis, an award-winning dancer and choreographer from Athens whose works have been presented at the Royal Danish Opera, Grand Théâtre de Genève, and Norrdans, among others.

Regionteater Väst´s performance SCH! - suitable for children aged 13-15 - premiered at the Bråddjupa Dance Festival in Karlshamn (SE) on 31 Aug 2024. SCH! will be shown on tour in western and southern Sweden in the fall of 2024. More info here.
