Choreographer and acrobat Yoann Bourgeois has fascinated the Göteborg Opera's audience with his bold and poetic creations HURRICANE, FUGUE/TRAMPOLINE, and OUR MUSIC. Now he is creating WE LOVED EACH OTHER SO MUCH that will explore the vital incandescence that is the basis of our movement through a piece of rare virtuosity and intensity.

Canadian dancer and choreographer Emma Portner is a rising star with choreography credits for Netflix, the Guggenheim Museum, music videos, and dance companies such as the Norwegian National Ballet. Among a cavalcade of stars at Dansens Hus in Stockholm (SE), including icons such as Mats Ek and Jirí Kylián, it was Portner's work that received the most acclaim. In FOREVER, MAYBE Portner and GöteborgsOperans Danskompani will create a work filled with paradoxes, ironies, lamps, and microphones.

VAULTS OF HEAVEN premieres on 12 April 2024 and runs until 7 May 2024. Learn more here

Nagelhus Schia Productions is collaborating with renowned Norwegian choreographer Ingun Bjørnsgaard on a new work titled SONNET IDIOT that will premiere at The Norwegian Opera & Ballet in Oslo (NO) in May.

With Shakespeare's sonnets as a point of departure, Bjørnsgaard explores both sensual and platonic love in her new work in collaboration with seven dancers from Nagelhus Schia Productions. Bjørnsgaard is known for her exceptional take on the fleeting fragility of modern identity and its social foundations gradually venturing into the complex relationship between the feminine and masculinity, in both men and women. Through the visual language of movement, Shakespeare's linguistic sensuality is abstracted in a world of unfulfilled needs, misunderstandings, and an attraction toward the inaccessible. The music, composed and performed by Christian Wallumrød, plays a central role in creating a dialogue between dance and sound.

THE SOUL CATCHER is a seductive and deeply disturbing performance about psychological and physical abuse, manipulation, and power - in a powerful mix of performance, dance, spoken word, and electronic music.

Tour dates: 1-4 May  2024, San Francisco International Arts Festival, San Francisco (US).

"As an audience, it's like a ride in a roller coaster. Huge experience and mood fluctuations. From joy to discomfort. From comedy to seduction. From chaos to laughter. From safety to confusion. All in a total jumble that can change over time, down to a few minutes, or just seconds! Like the psychopath's actions and appearances, this performance is extremely unpredictable and strikes at the same time a powerful contemporary beat to enlighten and prevent the encounter with a psychopath. Watch out!” - XQ28 (DK)

CHEST is the third part of Nyberg's exploration of humanity's assholery, previously developed in SWEET (MDT 2022) and THE DAWN CHORUS (Norrdans 2022). DUST is the newest production of Claire Parsons Co., touring 2024–2025. DUST is a fictional tale in a playful mix of memory and tactility, magical realism, soft circus, and acrobatics. A performance that challenges the fictional with a poetic truth or two, to see if this space is a true place, if furniture has feelings, and if you can see the dust. Contact producer Lena Yngvesson for questions and bookings.

On 17 May 2024, Claire Parsons Co. talks at Bibu, Sweden's most important meeting place with, for, and about professional performing arts for children and youth. The topic is ”To save and preserve the art of the moment”, about saving and preserving the performing arts of today for museum visitors and researchers of the future. Each performance is ephemeral and unique in its encounter with the audience. How can it be captured and conserved? Organizers are The Music and Theatre Library of Sweden, the Swedish Museum of Performing Arts, and the National Collections of Music, Theatre, and Dance. Gunilla Heilborn with team premiered their new work DANTE last week at Dansens Hus in Stockholm (SE). A string of songs, text fragments, and restrained dance. Like all comedies, DANTE starts shitty but ends well. We hear music and songs composed by Kim Hiorthøy, a long-time collaborator of Heilborn. On stage, we see Ludvig Daae and Kristiina Viiala, both of whom have been performing in several of Heilborn's pieces, as well as a new collaborator; Ida Wigdel.

"Through smoke and intertextual fog curtains, Heilborn and her boisterously dancing, chattering and singing trio offer up an associative philosophical dance, which allows the audience to read in as much as they want and are able to. Provocative for all misguided people, of course, that there are several interpretations to choose from here. Which, on the other hand, strengthens the image of the hell of freedom of choice. But I like how Heilborn tackles it, as if with a thoughtful, well-read chuckle in the mirror of our present times." Cecilia Djurberg, Aftonbladet (SE).

CHARLOTTE ENGELKES
- Revives the performance SWEET

photo: Arno Declair

SWEET is Charlotte Engelkes first solo performance created in 2000, with which she then toured for 12 years, both in Sweden and internationally. Now she performs it once again at the Regina Theater in Uppsala (SE) on 11 April 2024.

SWEET is Charlotte Engelkes first solo performance created in 2000, with which she then toured for 12 years, both in Sweden and internationally. Now she performs it once again at the Regina Theater in Uppsala (SE) on April 11. SWEET is a 70-minute female solo performance with surprises, twists, strong emotions, and a lot of laughter. How do the director's wife, the sugar conspiracy, and the light entertainment business meet today? It's a tale of passion, of a past in the entertainment business, fear of sugar, and about doing something positive. This tale is told through singing, dancing, and memories. The mixture of genres in text, languages, and music creates an image of a mind adrift among life themes in a contemporary fairytale world. The end is best described as a heavily chopped-down Decamerone. SWEET had its world premiere in the Deutsches Schauspielhaus in Hamburg (DE) in November 2000 and has been touring different dance and theater festivals in Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Germany, The Netherlands, France, Canada, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Singapore, Iceland and Taiwan. NET is a dance performance where YOU call the shots. A net moves in and spreads in your school's sports hall or at your closest theater. Together with three dancers, we let the performance unfold and a choreographic kaleidoscope emerges. Here we create an undulating landscape that, with dance as an engine, opens doors to new rooms where we give shape to our fantasies. Presented 16- 25 April 2024 in schools in Aarhus (DK).
