On August 31, Microsoft announced Windows 11 as the successor of Windows 10, which will utilize the power of the cloud and Microsoft 365. This announcement includes multiple new features and improvements, but it also incurs great demands on the endpoint device hardware – which many devices currently running on Windows 10 cannot meet. Especially the requirement for the Trusted Program Module (TPM) chip which is oftentimes missing in many existing endpoints. Given the fact that there are so many existing endpoint devices that are incapable of running Windows 11, organizations around the world who plan to upgrade to Windows 11 now face a dilemma, because they suddenly need to buy hundreds or many thousands of new endpoint devices in order to upgrade. However, apart from the high cost, we all know that it is currently extremely difficult to invest in new hardware due to the ongoing global supply chain logjam and chip shortages.
