The New solution can radically reduce water consumption in the process industry.
There are allways many pumps that are lubricated with sealing water. Enormous amounts of water are used - which then often just run down the drain, and further to waste water treatment. The Finnish company Flow Control has developed a solution based on a closed system, SealCooler™thermosiphon system which only requires 8-9 liters of sealing water that cirkle in the SealCooler and guarantees that the seal works.

A typical paper mill can have hundreds of pumps in operation – and these require enormous amounts of water.

Example - a paper machine can have 100 pumps. A pump typically uses four liters of sealing water per minute. If the pumps run 24 hours a day for 30 days, there will be over 17 million liters of water in a month. All this sealing water is released into waste water and causes a huge waste of resources, or it can be completely or partially purified in a separate facility and brought back into the system as new sealing water, at huge costs and high energy consumption, says Timo Huhtala from Flow Control.
