STUFF IN THE PARK invites the audience to experience four unique dance works by the Nordic countries currently most interesting choreographers. The piece is adapted to its space, touring different parks all around Sweden and with a stop in Berlin. Among budding flowers, fresh air, and summer vibes, world-class dance and choreography arise.

Norwegian artist Ingrid Berger Myhre has made a name for herself as a consistent and playful choreographer. The Swedish choreographer Philip Berlin creates extreme and articulated dances that draw the viewer into intense moments of complete concentration. Danish artist Sigrid Stigsdatter creates emotional work where the dancers move between dream and reality. Finnish choreographer Janina Rajakangas has worked a lot with amateurs in her artistry. It is political, humorous, and norm creative.

STUFF IN THE PARK premieres on 24 May 2024 in Sundsvall (SE), followed by a vivid tour. Read more here

Nagelhus Schia Productions is collaborating with renowned Norwegian choreographer Ingun Bjørnsgaard on a new work titled SONNET IDIOT that will premiere at The Norwegian Opera & Ballet in Oslo (NO) on 14 May 2024.

With Shakespeare's sonnets as a point of departure, Bjørnsgaard explores both sensual and platonic love in her new work in collaboration with seven dancers from Nagelhus Schia Productions. Bjørnsgaard is known for her exceptional take on the fleeting fragility of modern identity and its social foundations gradually venturing into the complex relationship between the feminine and masculinity, in both men and women. Through the visual language of movement, Shakespeare's linguistic sensuality is abstracted in a world of unfulfilled needs, misunderstandings, and an attraction toward the inaccessible. The music, composed and performed by Christian Wallumrød, plays a central role in creating a dialogue between dance and sound.

THE WEATHER REPORT is created with Video designer Magnus Pind, dancers Kenzo Kusuda and Christine Sollie, performer Josephine Kylén-Collins, composers Kristian Hverring and Julie Østengaard, and costume designer Kit Wan. Wearing skin-tight playsuits, Aloun Marchal and Henrique Furtado weigh each other up, stare at each other, stand firm in the middle of the stage, and let out a cry from deep inside: the challenge is laid down. Face to face, close to each other, conniving and provoking at the same time, they are getting ready. They explore a wide range of sounds and movements with clashing styles, from sports fighting to teasing childish games, from rumbling noises to lullabies, from straightforward breathing to bestial yelling.

Progressive mechanisms drive the performers even further into their exercise, moving disjointedly and opening their throats more and more. The pas de deux glides from controlled violence to sensuality, which are both disturbingly based on listening mimicry and exchange of movements. Progressively and cruelly, get tangled, mixed up, and rival each other. Henrique Furtado and Aloun Marchal are ready, at last...

Performance date: 27 April 2024, Festival Encontr'Arte em Terra de Encantar'24, Casa do Povo in Cabeção, Concelho de Mora (PT). More info here.

CHEST opens at Dansens Hus in Stockholm (SE) on 8 May 2024, with additional performances 10-11 May 2024. CHEST is a choreography at the intersection of ecology, animals, and masculinity. With CHEST, Stina Nyberg continues to explore new musical horizons, this time in collaboration with composer Kaki King, based in New York, USA.

CHEST is the third part of Nyberg's exploration of humanity's assholery, previously developed in SWEET (MDT 2022) and THE DAWN CHORUS (Norrdans 2022). Producers are Terry Johnson (Johnson & Bergsmark), Magnus Nordberg (Nordberg Movement). Supported by the Swedish Arts Council and the Swedish Arts Grants Committee. CHEST is part of STHLM DANCE - an international contemporary dance festival in the Stockholm region 2-12 May 2024.
