But who decides the rules of the game? And is it even a game, or is it the harsh reality? With and by performance artists Annika B. Lewis and Helene Kvint. The Swedish choreographer Anna Öberg’s works LANDSCAPES and LANDSCAPES BEHIND THE SCENES will be presented at Kulturhuset Glada Hudik in Hudiksvall (SE) in collaboration with Riksteatern Gävleborg. LANDSCAPES BEHIND THE SCENES will take place on 28 Apr 2026, followed by LANDSCAPES on 29 Apr 2026.
In the immersive performance LANDSCAPES, Anna Öberg draws inspiration from couple dance and rhythm as a shared pulse. The work explores the meeting of dancers Viktor Fröjd and Jon Bugge Mariussen, whose backgrounds in house and folk dance shape a dynamic, evolving dialogue. Central to Öberg’s artistic practice is the improvised relationship between movement and music. Here she collaborates with long-time partner and sound artist Elize Arvefjord. More info here.
LANDSCAPES BEHIND THE SCENES offers an intimate look into the creative process behind the performance. Part lecture, part workshop, and part artistic forum, Anna Öberg, together with the dancers and Elize Arvefjord, shares methods, materials, and insights from the making of Landscapes. Artist, choreographer, and dancer Lisa Janbell’s practice grows out of years of collective ritual performance. In recent years, her work has shifted from techno-driven underground rituals toward somatic dance practices combined with sound technology and live electroacoustic music.
Her new work DEEP LEAP premieres at MDT in Stockholm, 23–26 Apr 2026. The piece invites audiences into a choreographic soundscape where performers, wearing body microphones and interacting with a responsive technical system, generate and shape sound in real time through movement. Moving between choreography and sound, digital systems and living bodies, DEEP LEAP explores how movement creates sound within a constantly transforming landscape. The work offers a hypnotic, somatic experience where listening becomes physical and perception subtly shifts—opening a shared space for presence, resonance, and imagination. DEEP LEAP is co-produced by Dansens Hus, Dansinitiativet, MARC, MDT Moderna Dansteatern, and Riksteatern.

London! Festival Fest en Fest presents FOR WHAT WE WILL by Stina Nyberg on 27 Mar 2026 at APT Gallery, as part of a great program situated across London, Brighton and Colchester. Info and tickets here!
FOR WHAT WE WILL is a choreography gesturing towards the work of building something with others. Through hard work and play it investigates the pleasurable work of moulding and being moulded. What is the work of the performer? How does the effort of collaboration appear? And why are intimate encounters always so messy, painful and irresistible? As the choreography slides between actions of functionality and ornamentation, attention can slide between recognition and daydreaming. The work was originally created in the house of ABF, the Swedish Workers’ Study Association, in Stockholm.
“The secret harmony of disharmony: I don’t want something already made but something still being tortuously made.” Clarice Lispector
Fest en Fest is an international festival of expanded choreography initiated and curated by H2DANCE - Hanna Gillgren and Heidi Rustgaard since 2018. It presents UK and Nordic artists working in dance, performance, writing, and visual art.

TRACKS, by and with Viktor Fröjd, will be presented at Skånes Dansteater in Malmö (SE), 11–13 Apr 2026. TRACKS is a celebrated duet exploring the strong bonds between us and the power of true friendship.
Tracks can be a song, a trail, or a path: a way to get lost and a guide to follow in the search for "the right track." A track is also the groove in the vinyl that the needle follows, creating that recognizable crunch of dust before the sound hits you—a powerful reminder of the pre-digital, analog era before we went wireless. Amid tangles and wires, the duet Tracks celebrates the heart in the rhythm, the mystery of co-existence, and the ongoing collaborative force within a deep friendship on and off stage. Using the raw vocabulary of the street genre, the work is at once humorous, warm, and deeply moving, reminding us that the future always holds opportunities to change direction and build something different.
Viktor Fröjd and Yared Tilahun Cederlund have collaborated on numerous choreographic explorations for over 10 years. TRACKS premiered at Dansstationen in Malmö (SE) in March 2026. For the full list of credits and additional information, please go here.
"The fact that everything in "Tracks" happens in such perfect interaction, playful yet tightly choreographed, means that at times I sit in a trance" — Sydsvenskan (SE)

The Luxembourgish choreographer Anne-Mareike Hess' work SOTURIT premiered in Kuopio, Finland on 11 Mar 2026. SOTURIT is based on the internationally acclaimed solo work WARRIOR by the choreographer. Taking the male-coded archetype of the warrior as a point of departure, SOTURIT examines critically what strength means in today's world. What kinds of bodies are allowed to be strong? Who has the right to take up space? And what happens when vulnerability becomes a form of resistance?
In the piece, three dancers remain on a battlefield where armor meets softness, and where combat is as much emotional and symbolic as it is physical. Together, they build a fragile yet fierce alliance that challenges gendered expectations and questions traditional notions of power. The piece is a co-production by Dance Theater Minimi and the Regional Dance Center of Eastern Finland. Read more here. Learn more about Dance Theatre Minimi here.

The choreographer Philip Berlin will present his new work, LA RONDE, at MDT in Stockholm (SE) on 9–12 Apr 2026. LA RONDE is a choreography built on circular, revolving movement, marked by spherical leaps, sudden accelerations, and a physical claim of the entire space. The dance travels in multiple directions at once, cutting through space with a frantic physicality. The work reflects on the necessity of excess and waste, exploring the immanent intelligence of dancing and its insatiable pull towards complexity.
Maxime Denuc's music, composed within the sonic world of pipe organs, moves between the repetitive pulse of club music and the instrument's spherical intensity. The primary instrument for the piece is the organ at St. Antonius Church in Düsseldorf. Running alongside the choreographic process is a digital-archaeological approach: an anachronistic use of a tool inspired by Merce Cunningham's DanceForms software, a groundbreaking artefact from the early 1990s. This method bridges digital historicity with contemporary choreographic inquiry.

Gunilla Heilborn premiered her new piece WORKS AND DAYS on 27 Feb 2026 at Norrlandsoperan Umeå (SE), followed by a Swedish tour. A performance in two parts, WORKS AND DAYS, draws on the stories of ancient poets and a recent trip to Greece. Heilborn tries to see whether it is possible to link one event to another, or whether perhaps it's the lack of logic that characterizes everything we do. She makes lists of ships that have sailed the seas and of what has been done or should have been done. The essence of the work is its chaotic structure, but a number of elements recur in both parts: the journey and what we remember of our experience. As well as the question of whether it is possible to know what should be done on which days and why. On stage: Gunilla Heilborn, Sophie Augot, and Ludvig Daae. The room, the light, and the music play an important role in the piece and are created by Heilborn's longtime collaborators, Katarina Wiklund, Minna Tiikkainen, and Kim Hiorthøy.
Since the premiere, the piece has been presented at Sara Kulturhus, Skellefteå (SE), and Dansens Hus, Stockholm (SE). Upcoming tour dates: 18 Mar 2026; Dansstationen Palladium, Malmö (SE).
"Works and Days" is a passionate, aimless defense of the aimless. Dagens Nyheter (SE)

In KNOCKING, Horácio Macuacua lets rhythm become body: a language of muscles, sweat, and breath. It speaks before we have words and moves us before we understand. It is both gravity and release, weight and play.
Norrdans’ ensemble is thrown into this current, carried by its relentless force, falling, rising, breathing in the same tempo. Here, rhythm becomes a universal alphabet. It brings us together into one body, one space, one now. Rhythm is not merely simple accompaniment, but a language of its own. The work premiered on 6 Mar 2026 at Härnösands Teater (SE) and is now touring Sweden with a stop in Trondheim (NO). More info at norrdans.se.

HAUNTED DESIRES by Björn Säfsten premiered to a packed Black Box at Dansens Hus in Stockholm (SE) in autumn 2025. The acclaimed production now returns to Studioscenen at Dansens Hus for two late-night performances on 7–8 May 2026.
In a raw exploration of algorithms, body ideals, and the invisible communication shaping our lives, three gay men confront their self-images by looking at what we all look at—too much. Through the glow of our screens, the choreography probes the endless production of images that flood our attention. Out of this overload emerges a dance: three bodies baptized in restless scrolling, searching for a language of their own. Desire and inhibition unfold in scenes that are both fragile and intense.
In HAUNTED DESIRES, Säfsten continues his exploration of humanity’s persistent failure to communicate—and its impact on the individual. Here, the focus turns to the iconography of men who wish to be desired by other men, as dancers select fragments from the algorithms feeding their social media feeds. Co-production between Inkonst and Dansens Hus Stockholm, created in residence at Inkonst and La Caldera Centre de Creació de Dansa, Barcelona
What you desire—might it be what you must become?

Land Before Time, the critically acclaimed, artist-driven duo of Joanna Holewa Chrona and Yared Tilahun Cederlund, continues to tour their work WATERKIND. First up, a tour through Sweden with Dancenet Sweden! WATERKIND has been highly praised for its unique movement language since its 2023 premiere. In 2025, the work was selected by Aerowaves as part of the Twenty25 Artists.
WATERKIND explores the interplay and connection between two bodies without direct physical contact. How can we experience the sensation of connection and the shared understanding of the next movement through improvisation? Individual explosions and outbursts occur while both performers maintain a close relationship with one another. Inspired by water—its flows and currents—and combined with freestyle and elements of popping, the result is a distinctive movement material within the work.

PHAKATI INSIDE by Joanna Holewa Chrona is shown at Dansstationen, Malmö (SE), on 31 Mar–1 Apr 2026, and at Atalante, Göteborg (SE), on 10–11 Apr 2026.
PHAKATHI INSIDE is Joanna Holewa Chrona’s debut solo work—an odyssey into the inner body and the spiritual forces within. Through the art of transmutation, the performance explores the manifestation of a powerful "avatar," transforming the space with light and sound. Chrona’s movements shift between intricate slowness and bursts of volcanic energy, embodying the life force that animates us all. What unfolds when one discovers that the magic resides within ourselves, and that the true superpower lies in the art of transmutation?
The work continues her exchange with South African culture, featuring South African-inspired electronic music by Yared Tilahun Cederlund with isiXhosa vocals by Ntsika Fana Ngxanga. “Phakathi Inside” is a South African slang mixing isiZulu with English, meaning "Inside Inside". Read more here.
