Nagelhus Schia Productions has always been rooted in the present – and in the future. The company is now returning to its historical work for the first time. Not out of nostalgia, but to understand their own roots. Modern dance in Norway stands on the shoulders of pioneers such as choreographer Kjersti Kramm Engebrigtsen. By bringing FIGURES IN A LANDSCAPE back into focus, we acknowledge the artistic foundations that have made today’s practices possible.

FIGURES IN A LANDSCAPE (1985) was created at a time when dance in Norway was opening up and discovering new forms of expression. Nagelhus Schia Productions now brings the work back to the stage – in the very same room where the world premiere took place at Henie Onstad Kunstsenter more than forty years ago. When the company´s dancers enter this material, history is given a new body. This is work that seeks to understand where we come from – while also lifting our gaze toward what lies ahead. To create something true and alive today, we must listen to what came before us. In collaboration with Danseinformasjonen, Nagelhus Schia Productions will host a panel discussion exploring questions such as “What has changed, and what remains?”

THE SWAMP is an immersive performance that re-premieres at Dansekapellet in Copenhagen (DK) on 13-18 April 2026.

THE SWAMP is a performance about the pitfalls of the Internet, and the manipulation and violence that goes on under the radar on the dark Internet. You are invited into an alluring, mysterious, and wildly growing swamp. On the way, you lose your sense of direction and must therefore take responsibility for the way forward through the swamp. But who decides the rules of the game? And is it even a game, or is it the harsh reality? With and by performance artists: Annika B. Lewis and Helene Kvint. Kassandra Production produces THE SWAMP volume 2 in a collaboration with Dansekapellet and theatre FÅR302. Supported by the Danish Arts Foundation.

Virpi Pahkinen celebrated 40 years as a dance artist with a spectacular evening on 6, 10, and 11 Dec 2025 at Dansens Hus in Stockholm (SE). The evening opened in the Blackbox with the film/dance screening VIRPISCOPE, followed by the world premiere of VIRPI LUNAIRE, a duo performance featuring Virpi Pahkinen alongside Pontus Sundset. In the foyer, audiences encountered an exhibition of costumes, complemented by a photo and video installation by artist Florence Montmare.

"It may seem like hubris to name an anniversary 'Virpiverse', but in Virpi Pahkinen's case it is justified /.../ ’Virpiverse’ is a counterforce in a fragmented, noise-saturated era." Svenska Dagbladet (SE)

VIRPI LUNAIRE takes the moons of Jupiter as its point of departure for a choreographic journey that unfolds through shamanistic groove, poetic geometries of the human body, and the presence of a few sensitive plants.

VIRPISCOPE offers a rare insight into Pahkinen’s extensive artistic career, presenting short films and archival footage from early works interwoven with live performances by two emerging dancers, William Nylind and Vanessa Lindblom.

In spring 2026, VIRPI LUNAIRE will tour with Riksteatern, visiting thirteen cities across Sweden.

Dance Theatre Minimi is preparing for the premieres of the new co-productions with choreographers Janina Rajakangas (FI) and Anne-Mareike Hess (LU).

Rajakangas will choreograph her new piece FLOOD for Dance Theatre Minimi's audience in Kuopio. The central question of the work is: "What if, instead of simply scrolling through the news feed images, the community paused to embody the people appearing in them?" FLOOD premieres on 12 Feb 2026 at Kuopio City Theatre (FI).

SOTURIT is based on Anne-Mareike Hess' solo performance WARRIOR. Where WARRIOR was alone, SOTURIT transforms individual exploration into a collective ritual that strengthens the resonances of resistance, strength and gentleness. SOTURIT premieres on 11 Mar 2026 at the ITAK-stage in Kuopio (FI). For the full credits list and additional information, please go here.

In WORKS AND DAYS, Gunilla Heilborn attempts to figure out how all the disparate episodes she has collected are connected and whether it is really possible to understand the world better by reading both the Iliad and the Odyssey.

WORKS AND DAYS consists of two parts. In one, we are met with magnificent tableaux with names such as "A place that is terrible in winter, harsh in summer, never pleasant". Through fog, mist, and music, two dancers move; let's call them Foam-eyed Sophie and Multi-worded Ludvig. In the second part, Heilborn herself navigates through previous works in her search for a beginning. The essence of the work is its chaotic structure, but a number of things recur in the two parts: the journey and what we remember of what we have experienced, as well as the question of whether it is possible to know what to do on which days and why. Learn more here.

Tour dates: 27-28 Feb 2026 Norrlandsoperan, Umeå (SE), 3 Mar 2026 Sara Kulturhus, Skellefteå (SE), 7, 11-14 Mar 2026 Dansens Hus, Stockholm (SE), 18 Mar 2026 Dansstationen Palladium, Malmö (SE)

Starting on 19 Feb 2026, Folkoperan in Stockholm (SE) will be transformed into the venue for Antonio Vivaldi's baroque opera THE OLYMPIAD. The director is Charlotte Engelkes, the musical director is Peter Spišský, and the set and lighting design is by the Folkoperan's new artistic director, Linus Fellbom, with costume design by Anna Ardelius. The choreographer is Sofia Södergård.

In THE OLYMPIAD, athletes and artistic souls meet in a vibrant, sporty, and intricate drama of confusion - colored by big politics, sensual confusion, and friendships that are put to the test. At the center is the prince of Crete, Licida - a charming, but untrained rookie in both love and sports. To win the heart of Princess Aristea, he must enter the match of his life. He therefore persuades his well-trained friend Megacle to compete in his place, with consequences that neither of them could have foreseen… Read more here.

- THE OLYMPIAD is not just languishing love, lust, and complicated relationships with a lot of humor. It is also about friendship. How much is it worth – and what are you prepared to sacrifice for a true friend? says Charlotte Engelkes.

Charlotta Öfverholm has turned 60 and continues to dance tirelessly. Explosive, fearless and with a stage intensity, she carries both theatrical power and musical expressiveness. She is uncompromising on stage – and her performance In a cage of light is further proof of that.

In A CAGE OF LIGHT Öfverholm begins on the trapeze and tumbles herself backwards onto the floor, sings Sinatra's That's Life and throws herself into a combative choreography with her stage colleague Jordi Cortes. In an intimate duet, they let the body's limitations and the fragility of life be put into play. The two form the heart of the performance's quartet, where Lauri Antila's raspy bass and Tobias Hallgren's death-angel figure with a whip create a dramatic counterpoint. With an open view of age and experience, and in a landscape where humor breaks against existential darkness, questions are raised about what binds us together – and how we can meet, right up until the end.

A CAGE OF LIGHT; tour dates in Sweden: 1 Feb 2026 Kulturhuset Tio14, Falun, 3 Feb 2026 Västerås konserthus, 8 Feb 2026 Dans i nord, Studio Acusticum, Piteå, 10 Feb 2026 Dans i Nord, Kulturens hus, Luleå

MILON QUIS; Words for Dance book is now available to order

photo:Teodora Georgieva

MILON QUIS - Words for Dance, by Israel Aloni, is part of Aloni’s movement research and corporeal art-making practice, which is grounded in the body’s intimate dialogue with language and perception. This book serves as a dictionary for the language, terminology, and concepts of The I.Aloni Experience, which Aloni has been developing in the past two decades.

MILON QUIS - Words for Dance, is designed for artists, movers, researchers, and those who sense that reality is not received but made, this lexicon invites a form of active noticing – where the body becomes a site of world-making, and practice becomes a way of constructing meaning—a methodology in flux, both rigorous and fluid, for training, exploration, and creation.

In this book, Aloni collaborated with artist, editor, and publisher Diego Agulló. The book is published by CIRCADIAN. To order, click here.
