When Norwegian choreographer Ina Christel Johannessen creates LIKE THE SHADOW: I AM AND I AM NOT for Skånes Dansteater, nine dancers are joined on stage by Mattias Ümit Yilbar Norgren, one of Sweden's foremost professional beatboxers. Two art forms meet and open up new spaces in Chrisander Brun's set design. New possibilities and experiences are explored in the body and the mind.
Johannessen found the title in a poem by the Persian-speaking Sufi poet Jalal al-Din Rumi. The poem's subject is in a paradoxical state, feeling the effects of future events even before they happen, and begins to question the nature of his own existence.
LIKE THE SHADOW: I AM AND I AM NOT premieres at Skånes Dansteater, Malmö (SE) 10 Oct 2025. The show also performs as relaxed performance.

Following the highly successful summer tour to Kalamata International Dance Festival and ImPulsTanz – Vienna International Dance Festival, Damien Jalet’s THRICE returns to Norway and Bærum Kulturhus, where it will play on 24-25 Sept 2025. More info and tickets here.
The production marks a new chapter in the collaboration between Damien Jalet and Nagelhus Schia Productions (NSP), following their critically acclaimed 2020 project DUELS at the Vigeland Museum in Oslo. That performance was later adapted into a film by director Jonas Åkerlund, which is currently being screened at film festivals around the world.
This piece, like its name suggests, is a triptych. The number three is an important one, both in the work of Damien Jalet and in the references he cites, from Greek tragedy to Japanese theatre, mathematics to religion; past, present, and future, body, mind, and soul; matter, time, and space.

This autumn, Regionteater Väst is touring with the grand premiere of STÅR OCH FALLER (STAND AND FALL), created for students in grades 4–6 and choreographed by Anne Jonsson. The performance uses body, text, and movement to explore how trust can be built, broken, and restored. It is a heartfelt piece that – with emotion, humor, and care – invites us to open our senses and broaden our perspectives.
Also on tour is SOM RÖDLUVAN (AS RED RIDING HOOD), for students in grades K–3, choreographed by Örjan Andersson. This illusion-filled production plays with questions about how fairytales come into being, who gets to tell them, and what defines good and evil. In the dance piece AIR BODY SAD, British-American choreographer Malik Nashad Sharpe and Norrdans invite the audience into a world of dark fantasy and horror, where every movement is a struggle between despair and hope. Through rhythmic and intense choreography, the work explores the boundaries of the body and what happens when it moves at the intersection of haunted margins and glittering pop culture.
The work is infused with the raw fragility of coming-of-age films, reflecting that time in life when everything feels uncertain, overwhelming, too close. A time when the body reaches for belonging and carries an inner rebellion that refuses to be tamed.
The piece will have its world premiere on 4 Oct 2025 in Härnösand, followed by a tour. AIR BODY SAD is part of the celebration of Norrdans' 30th anniversary. More info at norrdans.se. ”The body is in flight even when sunken within the darkest hour.”

ALIEN – KUOPIO is a pop-up dance performance choreographed by Taneli Törmä, premiering on 19 Sept 2025 at the KUMMA Museum as part of the opening of the M_itä? Contemporary Art Biennale. The piece is performed with dancers from Dance Theatre Minimi and will appear across Kuopio during the autumn.
Since 2019, ALIEN has been created in five different countries, each version inspired by the local dancers and the previous works. In Kuopio, the piece asks: what happens when we dance in public space – is it strange or liberating? It draws inspiration from communal dances such as club and folk circle dances, where movement is not a spectacle but a shared experience. ALIEN – KUOPIO transforms each moment into a collective, ritual-like artwork that strengthens both community and the power of movement.
The work is part of the Kuopio250 anniversary programme and supported by the anniversary fund. The ALIEN concept was initially developed within a Big Pulse Dance Alliance co-production, produced by Lithuania's New Baltic Dance and Ireland's Dublin Dance Festival, and co-funded by the European Union's Creative Europe programme. INNER SONG is a performance that moves at the intersection of live music and dance. It examines how music affects the body and how listening can shape our ways of being in the world.
The starting point is the artistsdifferent backgrounds – landscapes, experiences, memories – and how they affect our self-image, our relationships, and our life choices. INNER SONG poses questions about what guides our movements, both from within and without, and how we seek meaning in our actions. The physical presence of music, the role of listening as communication, the state of flow, and the patterns we carry with us are the themes explored in the performance. Four performing artists – Emma Augustsson, Helena Franzén, Jure Gostičar, and Anette Jellne – come together in a laboratory work where they search for what can be called an inner song. Read more here.
The performance will have its world premiere at Atalante in Gothenburg (SE) on 10 Oct 2025. Supported by the Swedish Arts Council.
Tour dates: 10-12 Oct 2025 Atalante, Gothenburg (SE), 17-19 Oct 2025 Telefonfabriken, Stockholm (SE), 25 Oct 2025 Skånes Dansteater, Malmö (SE)
