Welcome to SynchZipped

As we head into the summer break, I want to take a moment to reflect on what’s been a dynamic and energising spring at Synch.

We’ve launched ZeroGravity, our new AI-powered platform that helps businesses navigate complex regulations, such as DORA, NIS2, and the AI Act, making compliance clearer, simpler, and more accessible. This initiative reflects our commitment to innovation and our belief that legal support should empower, not overwhelm.
We've also been proud to support our clients through exciting and meaningful transactions across healthtech, proptech, mining, and more.

Our team has continued to grow this quarter. We welcomed Sofia Tångelin and Arunendu Mazumder, two brilliant additions who further strengthen our capabilities.

We've continued to stay close to the discussions shaping the future of tech, law, and innovation, joining industry peers and communities to exchange insights, explore new perspectives, and contribute to evolving conversations around regulation, compliance, and responsible AI.

Recognition across Legal 500, IP Stars, Chambers, and IAM Patent 1000 continues to affirm the trust our clients place in us and the strength of our incredible team.

At the same time, we’ve made space to connect - whether through our Deedster sustainability challenge, our summer party in Stockholm’s Old Town, or our kayaking evening - sharing moments that remind us of the value of community, laughter, and enjoying the journey together.

To all our clients, partners, and friends, thank you for your continued collaboration and trust. I’m proud of what we’ve achieved together this spring and excited for what’s ahead after summer.

Until then, I wish you a relaxing and well-deserved break.

Warm regards,

Jim

ZeroGravity Powered by Synch

This Spring, We Launched ZeroGravity – Your AI-powered compliance Companion.
ZeroGravity is a free platform from Synch, designed to help businesses make sense of complex regulations.

Rules like DORA, NIS2, and the AI Act are already changing how companies work, and with more on the way, staying compliant can feel overwhelming. That’s where ZeroGravity comes in: helping you keep up, stay compliant, and feel in control.

The platform features a quick self-check tool, our AI chatbot Bubble, informative articles, interactive quizzes, and a dashboard that provides a clear overview. It’s made to be simple, helpful, and easy to use.

And we’re just getting started. ZeroGravity is a living platform; more regulations and features will be added continuously to help you stay ahead.

Starting in September, we’ll also offer AI Literacy training packages, ranging from a shorter 3-hour Discovery webinar to a 3-day Elevate package and a 7-day Transform session.

If you want to stay one step ahead of new regulations and feel more confident about compliance, ZeroGravity is a great place to begin!

IWIB4AI Talk: Marketing and Content in the Age of AI - Legal and Ethical Considerations

On May 13, Synch had the pleasure of participating in a thought-provoking panel at Berghs School of Communication, where we explored how AI is reshaping the way we create, communicate, and stay compliant.

Organised in collaboration with IWIB4AI, Berghs, and Holy Comms, the event brought together voices from law, communication, and creative industries for an open and engaging conversation about AI’s legal and ethical impact in marketing and content creation.

My Janse from Synch joined Lisa Kruse from Holy Comms in a panel moderated by Marie Alani from Berghs, with the initiative led by Tatiana Caldas-Löttiger, founder of IWIB4AI. The discussion covered pressing questions: How do we maintain compliance and ethics in AI-generated communication? What are the responsibilities of brands and creators in this new landscape?

Thank you to Berghs School of Communication and Marie Alani for hosting us, and to Tatiana Caldas-Löttiger, My Janse, and Lisa Kruse for the insightful conversations!

At Synch, we’re proud to contribute to meaningful discussions at the intersection of innovation, communication, and the law.

We’re proud to announce that Synch is now a Rocket Fuel Supporter of Norrsken – and we kicked off the collaboration with a Lunch & Learn at Norrsken House in Stockholm!

On May 27, our colleagues Marcus Appeltofft and Hugo Snöbohm Hartzell hosted an engaging session on Upcoming Tech Regulations, diving into what the AI Act, DORA, and NIS2 really mean for startups and scaling tech companies.

With EU tech regulation evolving rapidly, understanding the legal landscape is more critical than ever. We’re excited to support the Norrsken community with insights and guidance to navigate these changes confidently.

Looking forward to more conversations and collaborations ahead!

Our Deedster Challenge

As part of our SynchHeart initiative, we recently partnered with Deedster for a Healthy Living Challenge. This three-week journey encouraged us to reflect on our impact and take small, sustainable actions in our daily lives.

From plant-based meals to biking and adopting better sleep habits, the challenge helped us establish new routines and modify old ones. It wasn’t about being perfect, but about doing something together.

A big thank you to Deedster for making climate action inspiring and accessible.

Processing special categories of personal data under the GDPR and the AI Act

While the GDPR places strict limits on the use of sensitive personal data, the AI Act introduces new obligations to ensure fairness, transparency, and non-discrimination in high-risk AI systems.

This means organisations may need to process special categories of personal data, not in spite of privacy rules, but in alignment with them.

In our latest article by Elisavet Dravalou, we explore:
✔️ When and how sensitive data can be processed under Article 9(2) GDPR
✔️ What does Article 10(5) of the AI Act mean in practice
✔️ The evolving role of the DPIA - from a compliance document to a collaborative governance tool

IAPP’s AI Governance Global Europe

This spring, Erica Antonovic and Elisavet Dravalou represented Synch at IAPP’s AI Governance Global Europe in Dublin - a key event for those navigating the fast-evolving landscape of AI regulation and responsible innovation.
With the EU AI Act on the horizon and AI adoption accelerating across sectors, the conference brought together thought leaders, legal experts, and policymakers from across Europe.
We were proud to be part of the conversation and connect with professionals shaping the future of AI governance.

AI’s Role in Redefining High-Stakes Decision-Making: The Future of M&A

Sofia Tångelin joined an inspiring evening at NISCH Stockholm to explore AI’s Role in Redefining High-Stakes Decision-Making: The Future of M&A.
Senior dealmakers gathered to discuss how AI is reshaping the M&A landscape, from smarter due diligence to the next wave of strategic decision-making.

The evening sparked thoughtful conversations around ethics, innovation, and the balance between human intuition and machine intelligence.
Big thanks to the organisers and moderator Mikael Ahlström for a thought-provoking and insightful event!

Women In Tech

Amila Briga, Clara Löfgren, and Kajsa Grip attended Women In Tech 2025 at Stockholm Waterfront - an energising day filled with inspiration, innovation, and important conversations about the future of tech.

With this year’s theme, “Space to Play,” the event highlighted the power of inclusion and creativity in driving progress. We especially appreciated the focus on AI, healthcare, and how the industry is working to make tech more accessible and inclusive for all.

Summer Party 2025

By the end of May, we gathered for our summer partyand of course, the rain joined right on cue as we set off on a guided walk toward Stockholm’s Old Town. But a little downpour couldn’t dampen our spirits.

We found cover under a cosy terrace roof and enjoyed a long evening of food, laughter, and great company. The conversations flowed well into the night, and the energy reminded us how lucky we are to work with such a fantastic team.

It’s not easy fitting all these amazing Synchers into one photo - but we’re glad we captured the moment. Grateful for this group and everything we’ve shared this spring!
SynchTestar

This month, a handful of brave Synchers traded legal briefs for paddles and took to the water for an evening of kayaking in perfect Stockholm sunshine.
Despite a few creative steering strategies (no names mentioned), everyone stayed dry, and spirits were high.

The real surprise? Our instructor was so impressed by the flawless coordination of two Synchers that they were encouraged to consider going pro.
Could a Synch kayak team be on the horizon?

Big thanks to everyone who joined in – it’s not every day law and leisure sync up this smoothly!
