Exploring the Future of Quantum Computing, AI, and Cybersecurity
On February 11th, in collaboration with the International WoMenX In Business For Ethical AI (IWIB4AI) Think Tank, we gathered brilliant minds to discuss the intersection of quantum computing, AI, and cybersecurity and what this means for the future of digital security and legal frameworks.
We were honoured to welcome Caryn Lusinchi, former US federal government advisor, alongside Marcus Appeltofft, our cybersecurity and data protection expert. Together, they provided valuable insights into how quantum computing is reshaping the digital landscape and the regulatory challenges and opportunities that come with it.
What made this session truly special was that it wasn’t just about technology but how to implement it responsibly. Discussions centred on ethical AI, security risks, and the legal frameworks necessary to navigate this rapidly evolving space.
Thank you to everyone who participated in this thought-provoking conversation.
Stay tuned for more discussions about innovation and law.

DEI workshop

|
On Thursday 20th of February, we invited Tatiana Caldas Löttinger (from IWIB4AI) as an external guest speaker to discuss gender equality during our SynchGrowth-session. With International Women’s Day around the corner, we took the opportunity to reflect on why this day and why gender equality is so important.
We got the chance to highlight progress, acknowledge ongoing challenges, and remind ourselves that change happens through action, not just words.
Curiosity and transparency are key to how we work at Synch, and having open conversations like this helps us grow, question old patterns, and support each other in building a more equal workplace.

At present, conducting financial activities without a licence from or registration with Finansinspektionen is not subject to criminal sanctions.
The current regulatory sanction is merely that Finansinspektionen shall order anyone who conducts activities that require a licence or registration to cease the activity or order it to apply for authorisation or registration. An actor can thus operate in a grey zone and take a chance that Finansinspektionen does not take note of the financial activities. Read more here

On 1 December 2024, the Swedish FDI-Act (sw. lag (2023:560) om granskning av utländska direktinvesteringar) marked its one-year anniversary. The FDI-Act, which entered into force on 1 December 2023, is intended to protect Swedish security interests, known as protection-worthy activity (sw. skyddsvärd verksamhet).
The Act establishes, inter alia, a notification obligation for investors, enabling the Swedish Screening Authority, the Inspectorate of Strategic Products (the “ISP”) to review investments and, when necessary, prohibit such investments that may harm Sweden's national security, or public order or public security in Sweden. With a year of experience, we begin 2025 by reflecting on the statistics, lessons learned and future prospects. Read more here

We enjoyed attending AiSalon x Climate, an inspiring event hosted at Norrsken, where we explored the powerful intersection of AI and climate action.
With close to 100 engaged attendees, thought-provoking discussions, and a lineup of innovative startups, the event made it clear that AI plays a pivotal role in tackling the climate crisis.
A highlight of the evening was experiencing seven inspiring startup demos, each showcasing groundbreaking AI-driven innovations designed to reduce environmental impact. The event underscored AI’s incredible potential to drive meaningful change toward a more sustainable future, from optimising energy consumption and enhancing biodiversity protection to advancing circular economy solutions.

As always, Attending TechArena 2025 was a great experience, filled with insightful discussions, groundbreaking innovations, and inspiring success stories.
One key topic was EU regulations and their impact on businesses and global competitiveness. Should we regulate or deregulate? The consensus leaned towards smart regulations, which strike the right balance between fostering innovation and ensuring responsible growth.
AI took centre stage, with some exciting startup pitches showcasing innovation. AI continues to push the boundaries of what’s possible across industries.
Adding to the inspiration, we had the privilege of hearing from Marc Randolph (co-founder of Netflix), Sir Richard Branson, and Tony Hawk - three visionaries who reminded us that anything is possible with determination, adaptability, and bold ideas.
A big thank you to Techarena for a fantastic event - we’re already looking forward to next year!

A few weeks ago, we brought the whole team together for our Out of Office spring edition.
We kicked things off with a conference at the office, diving into our 2025 strategy and even squeezing in a hackathon. After some great discussions and presentations, it was time to switch gears.
Next stop: the mini golf course! Precision putts, creative techniques, and plenty of laughs made for a fantastic afternoon.
We wrapped up the day with a well-deserved dinner. It is a perfect reminder that while we love working together, we also know how to have a great time.
